I am based in Brooklyn, and outside of my main practice on production sets or exhibition design / installs, I do screenprinting on the side as well as graphic design, video editing, and event shoots for freelance work. Currently, I am a bit busier with a major exhibition coming up, so my comissions are closed, but feel free to shoot me an email or dm on instagram and we can work something out.
I have done commissions for clients such as MGNA Crrrta, PBS/All-Arts, Onassis Foundation, Who Shot Lulu, Transfer Gallery, Tech Kids Unlimited, as well as social media posts and graphic design for various events including some from NEW INC/New Museum.
You can email me here, or @machewtops on instagram.
I am currently a student at NYU Tandon School of Engineering, in the Integrated Design & Media program, where I study a variety of topics at both a graduate and undergraduate level in Virtual Production, UX Design, VR, and other emerging medias. I work part time at the 370J Media Commons (didnt have space to fit it on my resume haha), as well as at Tandon @ The Yard, NYU’s graduate virtual production facility inside the Navy Yards. At both facilities, I manage the motion capture setups, which use Optitrack, as well as working on a depthkit volume capture at the Media Commons, and an evercoast volume capture at Navy Yards. I am currently taking a grad class on compositing and vfx with the LED wall at the Navy Yards as well.
This summer (2024), I also studied at Harvard Graduate School of Design in their Design Discovery Virtual program alongside my internship, in order to get more experience with Rhino, and in the context of Architecture, Landscape Architecture, and Urban Planning. Beyond that, I also studied in person at University College London for school credit for architectural planning, as well as taking part in a program with IBM for the duration of the summer as part of their Accelerate Design Track, selected out of 10k applicants to take part in a group of ~65 juniors/seniors to learn more about UI/UX through mentorship with IBM designers for the summer. These experiences all really helped me formulate my thoguhts on design outside of IDM, and in particular the architectural background and UX work has really applied back into my general production and installation design.
Outside of School, I work as an Intern at Onassis ONX, which is an emerging media hybrid production studio as well as exhibition space, in association with organizations such as NEW INC/New Museum, Rhizome, Pioneer Works, and other institutions that produce works in the space. Through this, I help with lighting design and installation installs, event prep, and administrative work for artist upkeep, and work as a Motion Capture technician as needed.
I also work on a lot of printmaking work and photography, working with MGNA Crrrta since their inception and shooting the cover of their debut EP, Constitution 2. (1M+ streams). I still print out merchandise for their concerts + online sales, and have printed out clothes worn by other artists such as The Hellp, Horsegirl, and posters for Chloe Moriondo. I also recently worked on a music video for Troxell, building props, and helped make the cover for Who Shot Lulu’s single ‘Pretty’, recording a live studio recording video accompaniment.
